California Attorney General Xavier Becerra left Americans stunned this week after announcing his state’s newest law. According to the recent legislation, employers who try to follow federal laws against employing illegal immigrants may now find themselves fined or imprisoned by state authorities.

One of the recent laws passed in California, A.B. 450, explicitly deals with employers who report illegal employees to the authorities. As Attorney General Becerra explained, “A.B. 450 in particular deals with the workplace and how we go about treating the information about the workplace and employees at the workplace, by employers.”

“What we’re trying to make sure is that employers are aware that this is 2018 and there’s a new law in place,” Becerra went on to say, before telling reporters that California law enforcement agencies would investigate any employers who turned over illegals, and his office would take steps to prosecute them.

California has just become the first state to go this far in protecting illegal immigrants. Their decision shows to great effect who state officials really care about. They are willing to imprison American citizens in order to allow illegal immigrants to remain in the country. As if people didn’t think California was already too deep into the leftist looney bin, they go ahead and issue this insane piece of legislation.

Of course, cyberspace immediately erupted after the announcement was made, but it is unlikely that social media rage will rein in the rogue state. This latest law is bordering on treasonous and is a slap in the face to law abiding citizens everywhere. Luckily, however, the federal government is not about to roll over and allow California to continue allowing illegals to flood into the country. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, “U.S. immigration officials have begun preparing for a major sweep in San Francisco and other Northern California cities in which federal officers would look to arrest more than 1,500 undocumented people while sending a message that immigration policy will be enforced in the sanctuary state, according to a source familiar with the operation.”

It looks like a battle is brewing out on the West Coast, and I have my money on the Feds winning.
