I won’t Apologize’: Toby Keith Speaks Out On Decision To Perform At Trump’s Presidential Inauguration

American singer and songwriter Toby Keith has found himself in hot water after accepting the invitation to perform at Donald Trump’s inaugural ceremony and is now dealing with the massive outpour of criticism that followed after his decision.

“I don’t apologize for performing for our country or military,” said the singer to EW. “I performed at events for previous presidents [George W.] Bush and [Barack] Obama and over 200 shows in Iraq and Afghanistan for the USO.”

Toby’s performance at a concert at the Lincoln Memorial on Jan. 19 was announced this Friday, and joining him at the “Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration” will be 3 Doors Down, Lee Greenwood, Jennifer Holliday, The Piano Guys, and the Frontmen of Country.

Among the performers that have accepted to do Trump the honor for his inauguration are The Rockettes, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and young singer Jackie Evancho.

Trump has had some trouble collecting eminent performers for his inauguration since many famous singers and performers have publicly denied and rejected invitations believing that this might jeopardize their careers.
